Cree for Great or Big River, Chisasibi sits on the south shore of the La Grande River on the Coast of James Bay and is the second northernmost Cree community in Eeyou Istchee. The current population of Chisasibi is 4,400 Cree, 250 Inuit and 300 non-Indigenous. The Chief of Chisasibi is Davey Bobbish.
