Cree Real Estate Entrepreneurship Development (CREED) Program

James Bay Cree entrepreneurs in Eeyou Istchee working in home construction, renovations, services, and real estate have the opportunity to apply for a grant through the Cree Real Estate Entrepreneurship Development Program, known as CREED. This business initiative through the Department of Commerce and Industry supports Cree entrepreneurs build and grow their businesses, which will help stimulate our local economies and support capacity building.

CREED Program

This grant-based program is aligned with the Department of Commerce and Industry’s aim to diversify and stimulate economic growth in Eeyou Istchee by assisting Cree-owned businesses. Encouraging Cree entrepreneurs to develop and/or strengthen their businesses in construction, real estate and retail services and products will support local economic growth, and increase community employment opportunities. Fostering these entrepreneurs to envision, develop, and innovate will help build a stronger future for our people!

The CREED program is aimed at Cree entrepreneurs with businesses in construction, real estate and retail services and products, such as:

  • Private home construction
  • Renovation of existing homes
  • Real estate projects
  • Materials for homes
  • Financial services (e.g., insurance agents)
  • Landscaping and design services

Applicants can apply for up to 25% of their total project cost, with a maximum of $100,000. Entrepreneurs must be JBNQA beneficiaries, with their business based and operated in Eeyou Istchee.
