Message of condolences on the passing of Grand Chief John Boudrias

Nemaska, Eeyou Istchee (September 9, 2021)

It is with great sadness that we learned of the passing of Grand Chief John Boudrias of the Algonquin Anishinabeg Nation yesterday evening.

On behalf of the Cree Nation, we wish to express our deepest condolences to the family and friends of late Grand Chief John Boudrias. Our hearts go out to our Anishnabeg brothers and sisters today as they mourn their leader and friend. Grand Chief Boudrias also counts many friends in the Cree Nation and is well-known and respected throughout the Cree communities for his humor and love of music.

John’s vision was one of unity throughout his nation and neighbouring nations. May he rest in peace and his legacy live on.
