Purpose of the Event

The Regional Career fair is an event that brings together employers, job seekers and students to highlight and provide opportunities to promote career awareness in Eeyou Istchee. Each year, over 40 exhibitors including employers, training institutions, government organizations and not-for-profits come together to promote current and future employment needs. The event also provides a number of important opportunities including:

  1. Motivational and Keynote Speakers: Including Cree, First Nations and industry leaders that share their stories, advice and perspective on career development.
  2. Workshops: Aimed at providing greater career readiness, leadership, exploration and many other benefits
  3. Entertainment: Including indigenous artists, musicians and performers

Apatisiiwin Skills Development works in close partnership with the host community as well as the Cree School Board to ensure that community members, and students benefit from the annual event.

The event grows every year with over 500 participants and 40 booth exhibitors. The theme this year was “Apatisiiwin, Your Success is Our Goal”.
